For this part of The Tree Project, we took our drawing paper and pencils on the nature trail.
The class spent some time looking for the tree they wanted to draw.
Once we found our tree, we discussed the length, thickness, and direction of the branches.
The students were instructed to work slowly and to make corrections when necessary.
Student comment: "My tree has many friends and they are playing in the sun."
Student comment: "My tree looks broken because there is a curving branch I am trying to draw."
Student comment: " I like the top of my tree with all the leaves."
Student comment: "I can's see the details of the leaves and so I am using my imagination.
beautiful, expressive drawings. sometimes as teachers, we get bogged down in processes ... it is good to remember that some of the most effective ways to teach and learn art are as simple as going outside with a paper and pencil. and what a nice way to spend these rare "perfect weather" days! thanks for posting.
